Show Notes
  • We promise Kyle is not dead. Maybe he'll be nice and post something on the LitCin FB page to prove it!
  • Arrival's adaptation degree of difficulty was covered in depth on our episode/review - check it out
  • We are ridiculous... Of course "Happy" by Pharell Williams didn't win the Oscar in 2014. LET IT GO!
  • Jimmy Kimmel hosted the ESPYs in 2007, has hosted the American Music Awards 5 times, and hosted the Primetime Emmys in 2012 and 2016...

Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

on
1.18.2017

Hey, guess what! Silver Linings Playbook isn't just a lovely film about family and coping with mental health issues, it's also a novel! The movie even uses the novel as source material! *insertshockhere*

As is our jam, we consumed the film and the book. Now we present our insights and commentary for your consumption. Also, there are distractions related to Collateral Beauty, Ben Affleck, and VidAngel. EXCELSIOR!

Character Cheat Sheet!
  • Bradley Cooper (Pat Solitano/Peoples) - main character and narrator within the book. Lives with bi-polar/manic depression issues.
  • Jennifer Lawrence (Tiffany) - introduced as a potential friend/love interest to Pat. Lives with an undefined mental health issue.
  • Robert De Niro (Pat Sr.) - Pat's Father who is massively OCD (movie) or a straight-up jerk (book)
  • Jacki Weaver (Delores) - Pat's Mother
  • Brea Bee (Nikki) - Pat's wife/ex-wife that he is persistent about re-pursuing

Total Recall by Philip K. Dick

on
1.04.2017

More Philip K. Dick!!! Is this 1990 film (based on Dick's novella, "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale") going to be a better adaptation than Minority Report?! (<~~ that may be a clue as to who writes the show notes...) If nothing else, it's super campy and over-the-top 90's action! Join us as we dig into the adaptation changes and even a cursory nod toward the 2012 film w/ Colin Farrell.

Character Cheat Sheet!
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger (Douglas Quaid / Hauser) - Main character & sap/spy/superhero?
  • Rachel Ticotin (Melina) - Quad's Mars lover
  • Sharon Stone (Lori) - Quad's fake, earth-wife
  • Ronny Cox (Vilos Cohaagen) - Big Bad
  • Michael Ironside (Richter) - Small Bad (who likely does not make it to the final party)
